Church Ministers will play crucial role in the implementation
The Lubbock diocesan Office of Worship has developed this site to assist and inform parishes and Catholics throughout West Texas with the implementation of the third typical edition of the Roman Missal.
The third typical edition of the Roman Missal was promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 2000. It was published in Latin in 2002. Since then, it has been undergoing an extensive period of translation into English. The implementation of the new Roman Missal (currently known as the Sacramentary) will be implemented Advent 2011. The new translation will affect both the presider and the assembly at Mass. The catechetical process, which is designed for both the ordained and the laity, will begin October 2010. The process has four phases which will conclude with the implementation on the first Sunday of Advent 2011. You are invited to explore this website further to learn about this important process.
